this is so scary!!
i am 22 and have grown up in a family of hoarders... where normal means having boxes of junk lining the edges of the couch and having extension cords and car parts in the dining room-
and now i have my own place that is just as bad or worse (even though i promised myself it wouldnt be) as my parents' house. reading all of this stuff is scary because it is so right on with everything im used to. i can barely take a step now in my house because of all the half-filled boxes, which are there partly because i was trying to be cautious when unpacking (a year ago) and partly because i think somehow thats better than the stuff directly on the floor. but boxes are sliding all over each other and i have spiders galore...
my main question is that my house has no rooms- its a small cottage with one main living space. i have a giant drafting table and flat files, and that leaves very little space for dashing and stashing-- everythings out in the open. any advice?

thanks!

Does anyone have the Weekly duties for the bedroom? I looked on the site, but couldn't find it.
I have been to this site off and on for years now. I come back to this site everytime my house gets really bad. My family and I are messies except for one of my kids she is a cleanie. I know she get frustrated having messies all around her. So for her sake I am going to make an effort to make it cleaner around here.

I am so excited to find this website and to find out there are others who are messy like me. I don't have hobbies because I always feel so guilty about all the housework that needs to be done! I have taken classes on time management and once did the Sidetracked Home Executives routine, but that didn't stick either. I work at home now and I thought I would have more time, but it seems now like I have less! I can't wait to start using all the tips and see how I do. Pray for me! Also, is there a list about doing a Room each day? I thought I saw that in the comments but didn't know where to look for it.

I had this saved on my computer it's the Bathroom Room of the Day list Hope this helps since it's missing.

Weekly Duties: What to do when the Bathroom is the Lucky Room of the Day
•	Take dirty clothes and towels to the laundry area
•	Put bathmats in the washer. Also wash your shower curtain if it needs it and if it's machine-washable.
•	Throw away trash
•	Put toiletries away
•	Put the things that normally sit on the counter into a bin and put it in the hallway while you finish cleaning
•	Spray cleaner on the sink, counter, and tub. Wait about five minutes, then scrub. Make sure you use the proper type of cleaner, especially if you have a porcelain tub!
•	Use Murphy's Oil Soap to wipe down the fronts and exposed sides of cabinets.
•	Spray cleaner on the toilet and use toilet paper to wipe it down. Don't forget the outside of the bowl where you rarely see it! Pay attention to the base as well.
•	Wash the mirror and the other glass in the bathroom
•	Sweep and mop the floor
•	When everything dries, put back the shower curtain, bathmats, towels, and toiletries

I tip I recently learned about for the bathroom mirror is to smear shaving cream on it, let it sit till it is almost all evaporated (good time to clean the toilet), wipe it off, your mirror will be clean and won't fog up when you shower or dh shaves! This "no fog" lasts for about 2 weeks.

I have 2 boys under 6. So toilets are a big source of mess in my bathroom. In addition to wiping down the toilet everyday - I use Clorox wipes - I also use a Swiffer wet mop around the toilet floor. Once a week it gets a good mopping, but I have found without the daily wipe, the bathroom starts to smell - ug!

Hi Paige, thanks for the idea. I actually use Flylady's site and I still do the zone a week. I'm using the room a day instead of weekly house blessing day. It seems to work better for me. Rather than spending an entire day on weekly house blessing I spend about 15-30 minutes a day. I'm going to check out the link you gave me, and see what is on her site. :) Thanks again.

Hi Krista, Try using Flylady's detailed cleaning lists except just do the room a day instead of a zone a week and work for an hour and get done what you can get done from the list. I'm like Kris. I need to cover the zones more than once a month. You can also try the cleaning lists and ideas at A Virtuous Woman http://avirtuouswoman.org/ Scroll down to Household Notebook on the left hand column. Lots of great cleaning and planning pages there. Hope that helps.
