If you’re overwhelmed with your house, embarrassed to have anyone over, and exhausted by all of the organizing information out there, My Messy House is the right place for you. I have been messy my whole life. I’m not a yet reformed Messie or a recovered Messie, but I am learning a variety of techniques to help me live in the home of my dreams. I won’t promise you instant results, but I can promise that if you stick with it and do a little bit every day, you can reach an acceptable point. There is hope for you, just like there has been for me.
My Messy House began in 1998 (on geocities!) as a way for me to motivate myself to clean and declutter my home and to help other people. In 2000, I moved the information to my first domain name, then I bought the MyMessyHouse.com domain name and moved the Messie information here. The site hit a lull in 2004 when I went back to school for my master’s degree and PhD, and then again while I was going through some career upheaval. Although I wasn’t updating the site regularly, I have never stopped looking for the tools that would help me live the kind of life I want to live.
In 2015, I discovered Marie Kondo and the Konmari method. In August 2015, I vowed to do whatever it took to live the non-messy lifestyle. Something is clicking, so I want to share it with others who struggle the same way I do. That’s why I am reviving this website.
